Two of Asia’s largest furniture trade shows will converge in Shanghai next September, offering buyers a single route to source everything from outdoor dining sets to experimental design concepts.
Two shows, one city
Furniture China and Maison Shanghai 2026 will run back-to-back from 7–11 September, splitting their venues across Shanghai’s two main exhibition centers. Furniture China opens at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre on 8 September, while Maison Shanghai begins a day earlier at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre.
The timing aligns with the peak sourcing season for global retailers. The dual-show format allows visitors to explore both trade and design in one trip. Organizers anticipate thousands of importers, distributors, and project professionals will attend.
Furniture China refines its categories
At the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Furniture China will feature over 800 supply chain companies alongside finished furniture exhibitors. The 2026 edition introduces three renamed or upgraded halls to simplify sourcing:
- Hall E4 Outdoor Furniture, expanded to meet demand for garden, resort, and leisure pieces.
- Hall N2 Dining Plus, now structured around complete dining scenarios instead of individual items.
- Hall E5 Commercial Furniture, focused on office, contract, and commercial applications.
The event will also showcase motion systems, smart components, fabrics, leather, and wood resources. This setup lets buyers evaluate products and production capabilities simultaneously.
Maison Shanghai leans into design
At the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre, Maison Shanghai will take a different direction. Its 2026 theme, “Design Without Limits,” organizes four themed halls as a link between aesthetics and business:

- H1 Decoration Aesthetics: soft furnishings, materials, and spatial expression.
- H2 New Channel Selection: curated products from verified Chinese manufacturers.
- H3 Design Highland: contemporary Chinese design and cross-disciplinary innovation.
- H4 Future Presence: original concepts and next-generation creators.
The event positions itself as an incubator for emerging Chinese design, emphasizing ideas with commercial potential. International visitors can use it to identify trends before they reach mass production.
Buyers planning ahead can use the official DTS FurnitureChina app to pre-register, preview exhibitors, and send inquiries. Free pre-registration ends at 10:00 PM on 6 September 2026, Beijing time.
The combined shows highlight a shift in furniture sourcing. Trade events once focused on volume and efficiency, but buyers now seek both supplier access and forward-looking design. Shanghai’s model delivers both in one trip, potentially making it a key destination for global retailers.
Success will depend on whether the design concepts at Maison Shanghai lead to actual orders. Many trade shows display bold ideas that never progress beyond the exhibition floor. If the event’s emphasis on commercial potential proves effective, it may redefine sourcing as a way to influence future demand.
